Putting this here because there is not much activity on Pub Chat.
My wife and I want to fly into Dublin ,hire a car and travel around Southern and maybe Northern Ireland ,my major concern is the migrant situation ,looks chaotic in Dublin? Have also seen where small town hotels all of sudden get filled with migrants ?
Any input from Irish members ,or anyone who has taken a trip to Ireland recently.
Thanks Gerry 62 ots, from Ontario Canada.

No real problem with migrants other than newspapers wanting headlines or click-bait on news sites and it was confined to one or two streets in Dublin. Today they are scaring us about the anti-holidaymaker protests in Spain and the islands - just been to Majorca with zero problems. Everyone friendly.
As regards driving in Ireland the roads can be challenging and narrow but opening up to a modern road for a few miles and then returning to form. Surfaces can be poor so hire a car for comfort rather than speed. The west coastal road is beautiful but don't expect to cover too many miles in a day because of the tourist coaches. I tried to do the Ring of Kerry in a day but gave up about a third of the way around - winding narrow roads, oncoming traffic, coaches, few overtaking opportunities. Still, the scenery is beautiful, the people are friendly and the seafood is fantastic. You will have a great time.
