No E Type content, but I thought that this would interest Jaguar enthusiasts of all flavors. I hope this is OK for a Pub Chat topic, if not, I wouldn't be offended if the Powers that Be delete it.

This week's video on Jay Leno's Garage features an SS100 replica built by Jason Len at XKS Unlimited. Externally identical to the original, but with a more modern ('86) drive train. Maybe when Mr. Crespin takes delivery on his D Type replica, he could get some air time with Leno.

The trouble is, not only is it a ( rough ) copy, but it's a copy of a copy. Suffolk have been doing these for about 30 years . It looks nice, but what's the point ? There are one or two in the UK which are not genuine SS100s but have been built up from SS saloons , and they are at least faithful to the mechanical specification of the originals

I guess that the point is that it is possible to own a replica that externally is very true to the original (to the extent that, parked side-by-side, the owner of an original commented favorable to Jason on the quality of his "restoration") with the performance, handling and ride resembling a more modern car, presumably an E Type. And at a fraction of the cost of an original which seems to out of production. To my untrained eye, it is certainly no worse and probably better than an Eagle E Type in regards to being true to form. As long as it's not being represented as an original, where's the harm?
