Folks...
Anyone had success with lacquering polished alluminium? I am thinking about the cam covers and inlet manifold primarily as the nice shiny finish will not last forever..
I was also considering giving my Nickel plating a protective coat too if anyone has any suggestions.
Basically I am seeking advice on what paint to buy or advice NOT to spray...
Cheers

Very difficult to keep everything spotless all the time but thats what we "Jaguarists" are meant to do this in our spare time over those cold winter months (keeps the wife happy if your away in the garage cleaning the car, so she can do the hoovering in peace !!). Laquer coating tends to go yellow after a period of time , i just use a nice soft cloth and a bit of Solvol Autosol on all the alloy parts and just wash the suspension etc with slightly soapy water to degrease the road film etc. Never use any acid based cleaner on any plated parts as it will strip of all your hard toils.

Talking of acids, specifically be careful with the wire wheel cleaning fluids on the market. Applied some recently to my wheels, only left the stuff on for a minute. Some got on the front calipers and removed the gold passivate from the plated surface!

I've been looking at doing something similar for both the aluminium and painted parts and was planning to use products from GTechniq - C1 (painted parts) and S1 (metal).
Has anyone else had experience of these products - good or bad?
