Just lifted and quoted....
“just finish grinding off the numbers and restamping all the diff, gearbox, engine and chassis so they are all now the same and age them so thy have patina so now all matching. now going to do the body ready for paint.”
I wonder if anyone here has ever thought this might be a good idea? I’m pretty sure an eagle eyed concours judge is gonna see the evidence anyway, but would a minted buyer or an auctioneer? Would you look?

Auctioneers(UK) typically arnt interested if a vehicles details are correct and if you look in their small print it will say something like "anything we sell is being sold as ornamental ".....any private buyer that dosnt check out a vehicles identity thoroughly is a bit dim to say the least....almost every auction will have a vehicle being sold that dosnt match the basic infornation that's on the V5....
how about this nice "E type" £345k..its even on Xkedata as E type details...and has the E reg number and data plate.... Steve

That's a very nice looking XKSS replica but that's all it is. I'm struggling to see how it can be considered an E Type when it doesn't appear to have any of the "donor" car's major components. Surely it should be subject to IVA and, probably, given a Q plate?
Regarding Chris' original post, there is some context lacking but it appears that the author of that text is publicly admitting to fraudulent activity. Although I could be completely wrong.

Hi Stuart....re the xkss....its not being considered an E type...fortunatly someone has added the details of the E type id to xkedata....I assume its used the E type as the doner vehicle for parts on the build.....becaus of its build date it should have been IVA tested and then registered with dvla and given a new date related numberplate to the doner car age...the E type doner should have been declared as "scrapped" with the dvla and its original nuberplate retained by them....The builder/owner obviously never bothered to register it.......as it stands the xkss is not registered and is not road legal but is faking its identity by displaying a non existent E type numberplate and wearing its data plate and V5 papers......cars just like this are being sold regularly by all the auction houses...I know of a few who have purchased cars like this and then cannot register them in their name with dvla who also then withdraw the numberplate registration.......look out for E type "lightweight copies" and E type "restomods"

Just for interest how many here on the forum have an engine in their E type that dosnt match its V5....have you ever checked?.....if it dosnt match then its not road legal and hence not insured if you use it on the road.....you should notify dvla of the change......Steve

Wrt the Facebook quote, that is just plain forgery and fraud.
I am surprised that it is presented as such publicly...

I know this seller, a very sharp chappie. He sold my Facel Vega HK500 for me, gave me a price but did not detail the commission which should have been a percentage (5 - 10%) so I had no idea what he actually sold it for. No invoice - nothing, so I was not happy but not willing to pursue the matter, just relieved to have more or less broken even.

Isn’t a sale price and commission charge agreed with the “sharp chappie” before signing up to the SOR arrangement? And if offers are made then surely there’s a discussion about any revision to the net receipt to the seller before the deal is agreed?JerryL770 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 4:20 pmI know this seller, a very sharp chappie.
