I was insured through footman james with jaguar enthusiast club "discount" between 2001 and 2018. The premiums started at under 300 GBP for a valuation of 40k in 2001 and rose to over 400GBP in 2018 always with around 200GBP excess which was fair enough as the car club valuation had climbed to 150k. Mileage was always unlimited as I was always told there was no extra to pay, even though I told them I was only covering 2000 miles at most per annum. I also had not made any claims on any insurance in that time. However in 2018 it went up to nearly 500GBP with a £800 excess which on questioning I was told it was due to the 150k valuation. But this excess was on any claim not just a total loss claim. They also added some wording that I had to verify that the "car was complete" I have never had this clause before on any insurance before and I said, I could not sign to say it was. If they wanted they could always find a small trim part or bracket that was missing and my insurance would be void. They said it did not mean this and it was major parts like engine and wheels! I pointed out it did not state this and that the car was MOTed and a 150k club valuation so was not missing major parts, but they would not remove the clause. Worth checking for this if you have insurance with FJ. So I took my business to Peter Best who were much more competitive with a reasonable excess.

I've just today renewed my admiral multicar insurance.
Jag XFS, Toyota Yaris and E Type S2 2+2, agreed value £55k

All cars fully comp
All cars myself and wife named drivers.
All cars full European break down and get you home cover

£400 excess, apart from E Type £700

Annual premium £716

Reckon it's a good deal. And they answer the phone!

Malcolm, did you have any difficulty getting an agreed value for the E? I’ve tried that with my XF insurer and they said they couldn’t do agreed value for an E Type, so separate insurers.

I have an Admiral multi quote policy and they wouldn’t quote me to add a 1962 E Type FHC to the policy as their data base doesn’t recognise the car!

Were you doing it online and being too specific? I did it by phone, and she was happy with E Type
