I have been looking to re-do my dash using the original textured vinyl.

Does anyone know where I can get some of that material?

BAS did sell me some vinyl at a price that can't be mentioned and it turned out to be the garden variety cheap stuff...

The original dash was covered using a thermoplastic method which pressed a sheet of plastic onto the steel with high heat/pressure and it both bonded the plastic and created the grain effect. This is no longer available so you are left with having to cover it in grained vinyl - not the factory finish but pretty damn close. I suggest you contact Andy Rayner at Hutson's +44 1274 669052 as (I am assured by Angus Moss) that they do an excellent grained vinyl which is easy to apply using spray adhesive. You then cut around the instrument holes. If you can possibly save your original dash do so.

Most of the main trim suppliers sell a complete new dashtop with vinyl already bonded onto foam.

It is very good quality and they were the cheapest I think when I bought it at the end of 2012.

I bought a replacement moulded dash top at Stoneleigh about four years ago (a nice surprise since I didn't know the dash top had been remanufactured !)
I bought it from Aldridge Trimming. Just checked their website and they advertise the dash top (part no 606)
Cleaned off all remains of the original covering and bonded the replacement in place taking care to soften the thick embossed vinyl surface as it was folded around and under the edges. Take a bit of time to fit but well worth the effort.

I did find a nice glove box part used but in great shape. With a bit of armor all it now looks brand new!

The center dials section will be covered with a veneer wood panel (not in the original plans of Jaguar, but I like it!)

The driver's side dials facia is the problematic one for me. My car is LHD, so finding something will probably have to come fro the US.

Jaguar heaven in California has one in a car, not yet removed and from the picture, it does not show any cracks...the grain is filled with dust, so I guess I will need to shell out the $150 plus transport to Switzerland to find out if it is a viable part for my car.

Otherwise, I will probably use your advice and send it out to this chap that may be able to re surface it correctly.

I have 2 pairs of LHD dashboards; one from my 1964 3.8 and the other from my 1967 Series 1.5.

If someone else doesn't need them I'd quite fancy a set sent to USA. Probably the 67 set but I think they are the same aren't they? I would be happy to take both and then whichever one I didn't use I'd do the same as you and pass them on.

If you need anything to clean the vinyl, try those guys: restom.ch. They ship all over CH in one day, and their products are fantastic! I used a vinyl cleaner for my dashboard and it now looks like new (I had dust in the grain).

Thanks for the offer, much appreciated!

The dash facia changed for the 1969 model and the earlier ones are different.

Maybe I should take you up on the offer, as I plan to do my next project on a series one car.

I think that, as I saw on this tread, other are interested and it would be better to let them jump on the offer.

Thank you very much, You gave me an idea in the process, I also have a bunch of parts, new or used that come from my series 2 project.

I will put them up for grab to others.

For one, I have a roll bar for an ots car. It's up for grab for anyone that may be interested. It's in Switzerland.
