#1 E-Type in 80s TV series/drama

Post by Jaguar_Man » Sat Jan 10, 2015 6:08 pm

Does anyone remember a TV series or drama programme in the 1980s, which centred on two housewives who wanted to learn how to drive?. They meet a local garage owner who offers to learn them so they can impress their husbands. He then shows the two women his pride and joy classic car, which turns out to be an E-Type. Not sure what colour, maybe've been white, and I'm not sure if OTS or FHC, but think it was an OTS. Not sure what year the series was shown, but I've been told it was around the early 80s, but I maybe completely wrong. Does anyone have any idea what series this was called or anyone remember it?. I do know that one of the actors (the garage owner) in it was quite a well-known TV star at the time, I believe he had curly hair, but no idea what his name was. I think there was a scene where they raced around a track in mini's.

I think there was a film from around that time with Julie Walters learning to drive a red FHC?

It's not that, I believe that film is called Car Trouble. This was a British TV series; not sure how long it ran for, but may've only lasted a few episodes. It definitely involved two women who meet a garage owner who learns them how to drive, and later, he shows them his E-Type.

As luck would have it, I found what it was via a TV forum. It was called Driving Ambition, and there is a white OTS series 1.5 featured, owned by the garage owner (played by the late Mark Kingston).

E-Type is seen at the 46:22 in the above video.
