#1 Silver painted head

The cylinder head on my series 1 2+2 appears to have once been painted silver, not gold.
Whats the difference in the heads?

From mid 1967 IIRC without checking the heads were no longer painted gold but were left in bare aluminium. If there is silver paint maybe a PO decided to freshen things up?
