I think it might be Rafe Saber, he is from Canada I think. I'm in the club or one of them on there. I think its invite only but I might be wrong.

Well Naughtily they post pictures owned by Etype UK without permission or even a mention.

When they comment along the lines of " Belonging to Etype UK" they have not only deleted the comment but the person that made the comment

The guy who runs that page is arrogant and rude - I soon left after he didn't like a post I made.
His page, so fair dues I guess?

If they are E Type UK photos they need to be mentioned. Send in the heavies Lee! Meanwhile Harry should put a water mark on his photos. The good ones will still be used. A

Well, no, breach of copyright is not fair dos, and deleting posts complaining about it is worse still, and could result in an expensive lesson if someone turned nasty

I'm in two minds about that Facebook page. The photos are nice to see (I do have a look and see what Harry and his crew are up to sometimes on their website but often don't have the time) and it brings the E-Type to a (younger?) social media audience to some extent. I recognise some of our own forum members on there too so there must be some crossover. (Andrew - your Facebook page is the way to do it, your own photos!)

On the other hand, being obnoxious and deleting comments is out of line since everyone is entitled to an opinion; just because you don't agree with it, it doesn't mean it's wrong. Same goes for the copyright infringement, you wouldn't have thought it was a lot of effort to mention the source for photos when posting them. I follow a page on Twitter that posts classic F1 pictures and the sources are always listed or permission is sought first, things are properly tagged and no harm is done.

There has to be a way to make this work. Like it or not social media is an enormous thing now (employers know it - LinkedIn for example.) so it seems wrong to ignore it. If they took Facebook down it wouldn't bother me however! I have more important things to focus on in my life.

I subscribe to that particular Facebook page and have no problem with it. I agree with Simon that it does bring the E-Type to a younger audience, so maybe this is not a bad thing. Most of us (except Simon) appear to be on the north side of 50, so bringing new blood into the fold is necessary. The only real problem I have with FB is that you have to wade through the muddle of cat videos and photos of people's breakfasts to get to the fun stuff, e.g., E-Types, vintage aircraft, wooden boats, fine shotguns and all the other things that make living on this big ball of dirt even more worthwhile.

Bang on there Moe. I am getting increasingly fed up with all the daft videos of completely stupid things (as much as I love cats however) and all the links to articles that people are posting. I use Facebook to keep in contact with friends (group conversations - the 11 of us in our house have one running) but tend to make more of the E-Type stuff on Twitter. I seem to have more automotive related people/organisations follow me on there.

Make what you want of it, it's a free world after all.

Dear All,

I am an active user of both the forum and Facebook and to me they are fulfilling two different functions to two different audiences.

The forum is where I go to get great advice and technical information and is mainly for the active E-Type owners, restorers and aficionados. I have learned so much and benefited hugely from the knowledge in forum and from the people contributing.

Facebook is where I get to share my passion for E-Types with my children, my extended family, my wife's family in South America and my friends who are all over the world. They are not E Type owners but many are interested in cars and the story of me and my E-type. I also share my other great passion on Facebook which is Skiing and Travel.. To me this is a modern diary that is quick and easy to use.

I think there is a good point that if we are enroll new members and the younger generation into our passion then we need to think about how we do this. This is a generational thing that is being faced by many organisations who have an ageing demographic. My children will take the time to look at Facebook but are unlikely to look at the forum.

In short for me there are merits to both as the serve two different purposes.
