Interesting conversion!: http://www.jaguarspeedster.com/

Is this therefore the ultimate 'upgrade'? http://www.jaguarspeedster.com/pages/ja ... evelopment

Got to hand it to Henry and his people they certainly do a superb job but is it still and E-Type?:

I would normally agree with you David that Eagle has shown great skill and taste in the development of the E type to date. Their upgrades have refined a near perfect design, whilst remaining subtle yet purposeful.

But this thing is grotesque! It?s a very unhappy marriage between an old styling and modern kit, and the detail reminds me of the Spyker C8?vulgar, over the top and devoid of any taste whatsoever. I think that Eagle will discover just how steep the other side of the development bell curve is with this tat.

I don?t like it very much.

Whatever it is, it is not an E Type; the exhausts are vulgar and the inside reminds me of a Challenger I saw at Selkirk Show last year - this is not a compliment :puke: ; to call it 'pure E Type' is absurd. The 'waterfall console' is pinched I think, from a Corvette; 'nulle pointes' from me, the only question being 'who would want to buy this XKE on steroids?'

With out doubt the Eagle E-Types are beatifully put together and look fantastic, but where do they get their prices from pulled out of the air. I build all my cars myself to a budget I couldn't dream of E-Type ownership at Eagle prices. Brian Wilkinson of Zealia Engineering built a fixed head 4.2 in Metallic Maroon with lightweight bonnet flaired arches alloy wheels etc. It was unusual in the engine although pretty much standard had fuel injection developed by Brian who is an excellent engineer. The unfortunate owner died and Brian was selling the car for the owners family asking around 65,000 sterling. I then saw the car advertised online in Eagle for 100,000 sterling?
Kind Regards John

I have never yet met anyone who actually had bought from Eagle. however, a friend of mine sold his S1.5 OTS last year for late thirties, and recently I saw the same car on the Eagle website - unchanged - with an asking price of ? 89,500 . There must be one born every minute - or every month at any rate

This same car was on the Realm Engineering Stand at Stoneleigh spares day, cant remember seeing a price but ?98.5K:ithinknot: ,what do you think of this at nearly ?40K cheaper http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1031196.htm also on ebay.In defence of the reputable classic car garage though-- VAT,income tax, warranty and overheads of running the garage all comes out of mark up before any profit--the down side for the buying customer its him/her thats paying for it

Things are not always as straight forward as they seem.

On more than one occasion we have sold very good cars with what would seem like a good margin in them. By the time we've carried out all the work we should, to make them as reliable and safe as we can without completely rebuilding the car then taking out as already mentioned the dredded VAT your left with nothing.

Even when that happens we still have to stand by our warranty and ethics if any other work would become apparent. however not all classic car specialist do, they would tell you it's an old car, what do you expect?

Then of course you have part exchange issues to deal with. In the new and used car market it's normal for a customer to think their car is worth a couple of thousand more than it is, however in the classic car market things are slightly different, quite often tens of thousands.

More often than not we spend a great deal of money and invest hundreds of hours making them good.

As with most things in life, you get what you pay for and E-type's are no different.
