#1 Outdoor car rain cover for s1.5 2+2

Post by NOR3564 » Fri Jan 08, 2016 3:06 pm

Hi

Can anyone please recommend an outdoor fitted rain cover that is as 100% waterproof as you can get. It is for a S1.5 2+2. I bought a so called breathable one but it really does not work. Rain and water is retained and the engine compartment gets all damp. I have a BMW Z4 with an outdoor cover which works fine when it rains!!!!

Thanks you

Hi ....if a cover i so called breathable or waterproof you will still get condensation on the car during damp weather and cold mornings....i know because i have used them, i used a folding garage for quite a while thats basicaly a tent, the car was kept totally dry under it..very supprised that your z4 does not get damp....what make is the cover on that...

Go to Halfords and get one of their Advanced All Seasons Car Covers - large size. I bought one for my 2+2. It is a good fit, fully waterproof. ?50.

#4 Car cover

I would forget an outdoor car cover and get your self a car coon. They do outdoor car coons. Drive on to a mat. Put the cover over and zip all round. Switch on. Two small fans then fill up the car coon. I have my MG in one. Totally dry. Gentle air flow over the car. Total darkness. Excellent and probably drier than the garage the E type lives in although obviously less secure.

If it's outside, does the car coon stand up to winds??

#6 Cover

Blows about but cant blow away as the car holds it down. Had mine for three years and it is fine although after a while the zipper wears. I called then and they sent a handful of replacements. If you have A1 paint I would use an indoor cover on the car while in the car coon. You will need access to power as it comes with a battery conditioner that also keeps the car battery topped up while running the fans. If there is a power cut it uses the car battery to power the fans till the power comes back.

Alternatively I think they do an outdoor one in a frame so you drive in, zip the door and that is it. However if you have to keep yours outside the standard one will keep it dry as bone and in the dark.
