#1 Interior trimming
Hi All.....just purchasrd some new interior trim from Aldridge....anyone tried to cover the gauntlet panel with vinyl......im told you can glue the top, and heat streach the vinyl down...its the black dome shaped cover that the gearstick gauntlet is attached to.....thanks

Hi Steve,
I fitted my own, from Aldridge also, using spray glue on a warm summers day outside. Starting at the top I gradually stretched it around the sides then smoothed the creases out by hand. No heat gun used but I found it very tricky un-peeling and re- seating it each time. It's surprisingly flexible and pliable and not at all what I expected when I first layed eyes on the vinyl. Good luck!

Steve,
Yes, I had to peel the vinyl back off a couple of times as the glue wasn't very pliable in its semi dry state (I used an aerosol glue). It did enable me to get the stretch uniform around the corners. It's more daunting than it sounds.
My cover also had more vinyl at the top most part as I have the rubber gaitor on the gear stick rather than a leather one. This helped as the start point; laying down the vinyl (glue side up) and placing the panel straight on (upside down). Flip it over and start the stretching.....
I liked the idea of a heat gun to assist but I didn't want to quicken the glue setting time and potentially melt/shrink the vinyl in the process.

Hi
I did this for My FHC.
First use the kitchen oven, nearly 60 / 70? to make the good form with the vinyl on the metal part and after glue it with neoprene.
You can try more degres but beware.
I did the same with the large dash cover.
The oven gives uniform heat instead of the heat gun.
