Previous owners

Hello all,

Well, my car is now safely tucked up in the garage and I'm very happy with it.

As the winter nights draw in, I'm focused on building up the past history, as the file that accompanied the car is looking a little thin before 2010. Here is a potted history of the car; if any forum members recognise any of the names below and can point me in the right direction, I would be most appreciative.

According to the DVLA, these are the previous owners of my car:

First owner: Stephen Smith of Veco Products: 1964 - not known. Andrew H has put me in touch with the owner's nephew and we are in early stages of correspondence. Amazingly, Mr Smith is still with us.

Second owner: Clive Fletcher of Bristol: not known - July 1978.

Third owner: Derek Stanley Farler of Bristol: July 1978 - 2005

Fourth Owner: Sarajit Kumar Mitra: 2005 - 2012. Appears to be a Director of an E type restoration company based in Stockport...

Fifth owner: Kent Thirley: 2012 -2016. Known on this forum. Email sent and contact awaited.

Sixth owner: Nick Pugh of New Galloway: April 2016 - November 2016.

If anyone knows of, or is in touch with any of the above previous owners, I'd love to hear from you.

The fourth owner Sarajit's restoration company is or was near me. He used to advertise his services on E bay every so often with pictures, but it must be a couple of years since I've seen anything.

Do a company search or Google search on

Jaguar E type rebuilds UK Ltd and all the info is there, it says the company is still active with Sarajit still a director. I'll try and post a link if I can.

I suspect my car was quite possibly a showcase for their work, but I could of course be wrong.

A bit of a strange one, no website, no contact number, no other mentions or reviews. I seem to remember the E bay ad was just a mobile number for contact.
I drive past the industrial estate listed as the company address sometimes so might call in just out of curiosity. I know most the restoration companies round here but not heard anything about these.

The name Sarajit Mitra rang a bell. I parked near his newly restored S1 OTS at Prescott in 2007. It wore a D plate so 1966 and maybe not your car, and also had very wide wheels and tyres. But it won a prize on the day and was featured in an issue of Jaguar Driver later in 2007 or maybe 2008.

Nice guy. Worked at HSBC,IIRC, and married to a doctor. Not sure if either still apply...
