Definitely what it purports to be I knew the late owner and car since the late 70's and CMC did extensive research into it withholding full payment until they were completely satisfied with its provenance.

The car was in the Coy's show room 3 weeks ago when I was there (but not in their stocklist or auction catalogue), and so was the terrible restoration from stpallas that is again in their next auction at Fontwell House on the 29th June after not selling last time.

Sorry I don't understand. Which car is in the Auction and which car is at Coys? Not the CMC car . It would never be there surely?

Both cars were down at Coys. The CMC #15 is not in an upcoming auction but was in the showroom. I didn't ask if it was for sale. It isn't in their stock list or auction list.

The stpallas flat floor car (#876343), restored in Split, didn't sell at the last auction and was sitting also in the showroom. This car has been put into the next auction with a lower estimate.

I've just been stripping the under-bonnet of mine for painting - when I drilled out the pop-rivets holding the chassis plate on, I was surprised to find a large gob of mastic underneath glueing it on also. Is that normal?

Probably. I don't know if the factory habitually did it, but it has the virtue of stopping the plate resonating

Which is the 'terrible restoration/ There's a red one looking quite cheap at £50-£60,000, and an 'opalescent pearl' one also in the catalogue. I didn't notice anything terrible - what did I miss?

The 1961 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES 1 3.8 FLAT FLOOR ROADSTER is the bad restoration (in my opinion). When you actually see the car, you notice *a lot* of things.

How do these people get to post on here? I had to jump through hoops as I kept getting rejected as a spammer when I signed up! Part of my problem, being new to Jaguars, was that I'd never heard of Norman Dewis, and he was the answer to one of the test questions. So how do these guys get through it? And where do the links take you - Russian porn sites or something?

Usually posted from Pakistan (I can see their IP address) and the link does take you to some American towing site. They rarely get this far but having gone to all the trouble of getting logged.on I start messing with their post and deleting stuff. I will remove everything in a day or so.

I get the impression that the car is being soft sold. It is quite a special car - ex scottish motor show, chassis no 15 and just needs the right owner, so placing it here and there it might attract the right person. I was fortunate to drive this car about a year ago - it drove beautifully and love the colour combination - if i had a spare 315k gathering dust or coffee stains it would already have a new owner.
