#1 1968 Series 1.5 parts catalogue

Post by Julian.P » Tue Sep 12, 2017 5:59 pm

Guys, looking to buy a parts catalogue for my Series 1.5 FHC is there one specific for this series if not would I be better off going for a 1 or 2 catalogue.
Many thanks, Julian.

I too have a series 1.5 and use the 3.8 workshop manual with the 4.2 supplement to lead me in the right direction. I then use the usual merchants web-sites to guide me to the parts alternating between series 1 and 2 lists. I suspect, as the 1.5 series was not admitted for very many years, there is no definitive parts catalogue. However if there is I want one too.

Here is how I understand it. You start with the "Spare Parts Catalogue" i.e. Publication NO. J.37, then add to that the "Interim Parts List For 1968 Jaguar...." (IPL) and you are pretty well covered for the Series 1.5. However, you still might find some parts in the parts catalogue for the series 2! The IPL is cumbersome to use but invaluable in some cases.

As far as the Service Manual is concerned, you will be jumping back and forth through all three sections paying very close attention to the notations regarding the various unit numbers.

Yes, many of the vendors websites provide detailed diagrams that need to be studied carefully to determine if your part is series 1, series 2, or even unique to series 1.5.

All great fun! Good luck.

Hi Julian,
The latest SNG Barratt catalogue for all 6-cylinder E-Types contains detailed sections for Series 1, Series 1.5 (where applicable....) and Series 2. These are free with any order, from SNGB. Wouldn't that cover your need, or I am missing the point here.....? :?: :?:
Hope this assists,
Best regards,
Norman
