Hi Steve - thanks for that although what is an ‘069’? Is that a Halford’s battery?

Batteries usually have a 3 digit code.....the code specifies its dimensions post size and orientation etc..so an 069 should be the same for all manufacturers..so if you google 069 battery you should get different manufacturers option of the same size battery... ..just make sure the 069 will fit yours and the post sre where u want them..Steve

Alas, an internet search shows that the majority of 069 batteries are too large for my space (my support bracket measures 250x175mm) or the terminals are the wrong way round. I shall start looking at the sizes and terminals first, and then try and fine one that delivers a CCA of at least 550 and AH of 60. What makes and specifications have other members got in their cars?

Sorry if this may shock the purists around, I run with a Varta D15 :swerve: this is the second one of my S2 which I replaced end 2018. The first one lasted 16 years and never missed a beat :rvrence:
I have a C*ek battery conditioner plugged in when the car will not be used for some time, which will signal when the battery is starting to fail.

Hi Steve - this is a picture of mine. As the positive lead is short, I was going to keep it that way round.

Hi Malc...you photo,s not showing unless i click on the link....so your current battery has posts to the outside...would have thought that even if you get a battery with the correct irientation inboard your connections would still reach....so you have more options....Steve

Steve - sorry about the pic, but at least you could see it. Good point re the orientation! I hadn’t thought of that although I think I’ll stick to the terminals on the outside, for ease of installation and attaching a conditioner if nothing else (and less risk of shorting).. I’ve found a black Exide battery, 640CCA and 64AH from Tanya Batteries which should fit the bill. Great website BTW, put in your measurements and other technical requirements and they come up with a list of batteries that suit. And very reasonable prices with next day delivery. Thanks for your help.
