Evolution E-types
#21 Evolution E type
Well said Marek....I do think the low drag cars are simply new....these would seem most unlikely to be called a restoration as they seem to have a brand new aly monocoque and 5 l aly block engine. Ministry man will have difficulty finding much original material here..
No idea where they get the donor from but given the prices of UK cars I suspect some pile of rust from the USA.

On the other hand.....
What would be a better car on the roads for other road users:
1. An original but barely tarted up car that struggles to pass its MOT each year (Ahem, not like my car.....), or
2. A relative wreck from which all usable parts have been salvaged and re-used except for the new ally panels and engine block? And brake discs and calipers. And the rear cage, seats, healamps.......
Did I read that the Eagle rebuilds started with the bulkhead and replaced EVERYTHING else in the tub?
Like most, I'm not in the market for a ?600k rebuilt car, Eagle or other. Not even if those six numbers did come up.

I got back from the show today and had an opportunity to view the Evolution E types. Apart from being a complete ripoff of the Eagle products, they are very nice, well in bare painted shell, but to me at least it just looks like a kit car. My interest is in restoring, preserving and enjoying historic motor cars, so I am not ever going to understand the concept of evolution cars. In much the same was as the chap, David Brown ( not that DB ) who has ripped off the styling of a DB5/6 and fitted XKR running gear etc and wants ?700k. Why? I mean, there will be better modern cars for 1/7th of that cost and better classics for the same money.
Maybe, there are very wealthy Chinese moguls who want a classic look but don't want a Classic car who will buy these cars but I don't think so. Sad to say, but a white elephant I am afraid. Beautiful workmanship but cannot see the market. If you have ?600k plus to spend and want something that looks like an E type but not as pretty, you WILL buy the Eagle.

I can only agree 100%, I saw these various cars today and whilst some of the workmanship is superb they are not, to me, E Types. I want most of the experience of a 1965 car :) and would buy something modern if I wanted modern engineering. No disrespect is intended in these comments to Eagle, Evolution etc.andrewh wrote:I got back from the show today and had an opportunity to view the Evolution E types. Absence of evidence (that there's a market for 'restomods'), is not evidence of absence. Somebody somewhere may like them.

They aren't aiming for the people on this forum where l guess 600k would be a significant amount of money (not including Pete obviously). All they have to do is sell 5 cars to turn over 3m (don't know what the profit would be but imagine it would be a large sum of money).
Good luck to them, another serious player in the market can't be a bad thing. I'd have one in a heartbeat!

#27 Evolution E type
I am sure the odd Russian oligarch or over paid footballer may be tempted but they will be bought as investments. How many will get a run to Sainsburys or the village fete and raise money for the steeple fund or cancer research?..... My guess is zero. They will probably spend most of their life in store awaiting the next investor.
Evolution e type and Eagle E types are, I am sure, lovely, but how many get out and about? Very few.
Be nice to think someone might turn up to Bicester in one.....but I won't be entirely surprised if none do.
Back to tinkering with my old stager!

Count me in as well, knowing Uryk's workmanship they will be spot on. A friend who deals with Eagle said the people that buy these cars have money, they can buy any car they want from a dealership so they want something different and that is an E-Type with the latest technology and that's what companies like Eagle and Evolution are supplying.1954Etype wrote:They aren't aiming for the people on this forum where l guess 600k would be a significant amount of money (not including Pete obviously). Now Eagle has some competition and that can't be a bad thing.

People, or at least one lucky person, can buy mine for a fraction of the cost. It's the only etype that can hit the equivalent of 40mpg, a v12 with more power, more torque than all of the evolutions. And you can eject your unruly passengers. Some of the little "details" are on the US jag-lovers.org site.
kind regards
Marek
