"Crucially though, the original chassis number is still clearly legible on the front cross member of the picture frame so getting a V5C for the car should not pose a problem for the new owner"
Quite misleading by Brightwells unless the new owner is willing to be dishonest , DVLA have tightened up on this type of activity .
A bodyshell alone is not enough of the original vehicle to retain the Chassis number ,they need at least 2 more major components . With the sale of the bare bodyshell alone now well documented , this will be hard to disguise .
The bodyshell could be built up to a complete car as a reconstructed classic , but DVLA will assign new style 17 digit Vin to the V5 and to be stamped on the picture frame
So unless the original engine , axle or transmission are miraculously found with proof of origin i would say the vehicle is dead .
