Hi all,I'm about to start doing some retrimmimg on my series 2 2+2 and wondered if anyone had advice on which company to use. It needs new carpets and sound proofing, door cards and upper door trim, sill covers, rear door inner trim, new headlining and new covers on sun visors.
I'm budget concious now as restoration costs have gone higher than planned (how strange). There seem to be a few companies that fit the bill ie Aldridge Trimming, John Skinner,BAS,Norman motors etc, any advice on who to use and who not to many thanks Bernie

Bernie, I think you'll find good comments about most of them. It may come down to your feelings when you chat to them. Why not arrange a visit to them, to see samples, get a feeling for how helpful they'll be and their prices/ delivery schedules?

What he said. It is better to visit them so that you can see some of their works.

Hi Bernie,
I'm not sure from your post if you intend to fit it yourself or have a trimmer install it ?
I got my interior from BAS & fitted it myself. I was very pleased with the quality of the supplied kit & the finished result.
Regards,

I'm in the middle of retrimming my FHC and have a few observations. First, if you're not doing a complete interior replacement, get samples from each of the candidate companies to be sure the colors match the old portions that are left untouched. This is particularly an issue in the light tan, beige, biscuit range of colors. The second item is that if you decide to do the installation yourself and include replacement of the side panels in the boot area, you might speak with the company's installer about fitment of the cards that are under the quarter windows. I had a very difficult time getting an exact fit on these two panels as a number of items all come together at the B-post (at least for the FHC). Both sides required trimming of the card...which forced removal of the vinyl covering . In my case, I would have preferred to start with a bare card, and then add the foam and vinyl myself. The door panels (side and boot) were not an issue in this regard. (I'd recommend new window track felts and the rubber scrapers against the glass if you have the doors apart anyway...use the one piece track felt inserts from the V-12). FWIW...

Hi Bernie
I re upholstered my interior a few months ago, it's really not hard to do yourself. I got the harduras, carpets and centre console kit from SNGB together with 4 meters of vinyl. I got a couple of sheets of soft foam cut 3mm thick from a local foam supplier, but used closed foam on the rear bulkhead. For the door cards use the thinnest mdf you can get hold of as it has to bend at the front. The leather on the seats was largely ok on mine so I just re dyed it. I got the dye from scratch doctors in the uk and their cinnamon was a perfect match. Very happy with the results.
If you are going to do it yourself I can give you some tips on how I did the vinyl on some of the more complicated bits
Good luck with it.
