This is shared from a FB post today.

S1 4.2 FHC, originally LHD, now RHD was stolen from Brighlingsea in Essex yesterday. 1E 30161. There is cctv footage of it being driven away and the lowlife driving it is clearly visible. It looks like the number plates have been changed shortly afterwards as they were spotted doing it nearby.
Have suggested he updates XKE data etc.

What a world we live in! This just illustrates the limited value of immobilisers etc. Some friends rebuilt a Ferrari some years ago. The police found it ticking over in a layby just near Dover in the dark with no lights on with the driver sitting inside. The driver went to jail for it, but he never told who put him up to it - he was paid £1,000 to drive it to Dover. He said "They'll be back for it, because now it owes them money.".
I do hope you get it back, but that is a hope rather than an expectation.

Sorry to hear this, it just gets worse. However, can we have some details? Registration would be good, even if they have changed it. you say its LHD but its appears to be RHD in the photo?

So sorry to hear of yet another one stolen. The modus operandi sounds very similar to my experience three years back. Mine was recovered from The Hall Farm. Tillingham. Essex CM0 7ST.

It is just the other side of the Blackwater river from Brightliingsea. If I was the chap I would go there right now either with an Essex police man or the local heavies and have a good look around...very long shot but you never know....

The farm is used as an out of the way lay up point until the car can be exported....or so Essex thought. Nobody at the farm claimed to know or have seen anything...although if you believe that you are stupid...the farm is a thieves nest. I hope it is found but I am not optimistic...

A quick look around facebook shows the owner has a classic car business. Car could have been seen and then stolen to order.

Scum, scum, scum, scum, scum.

Obviously, these cars are stolen to order and there are people out there that have to get what they want, no matter who gets hurt or loses out.

Yes, the person or people stealing it are lowlifes but the people creating the demand are far worse.

There are some people that I have known for many years that don't know I have an E Type and that's how I want to keep it. It will be more difficult when the car is completed but, for now, that policy seems to work.

A Series 1 FHC in Opalescent Silver Blue is as good as it gets (in my view). I really feel bad for the owner.

They are scum. However until the police nationally really take the theft of such cars seriously across the UK and at the boarder then they will get away with it. To the police they are just an old car that has been nicked. The thefts are well planned and carried out by professional criminals who doubtless are also involved in other serious and organised crime. I got mine back but they never got the thieves who are still out there and still plying their "trade" :cussing:

Some forces I think do try....Essex is one of them....if it was a painting or a war memorial it would be all over the national press yet a £100k plus plus car will barely get a mention anywhere but the Brightlingsea Herald I suspect....and even then bottom corner of page 7 next to the advert for sheds... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Series1stu, W********* is quite a small town , how many Stuarts ? , removing "W*********" from your location would improve security no end !. [ Edited]

We have to be aware of all the risks , including the internet/locations /location photos etc .

Very true, but the car, and/or myself, may or may not be there.

Stealing an E-Type "to order" is a bit of a far stretch. Even a £200k car is still only on par with a new Porsche 911GT2 which probably has more world wide customer appeal. Thieves steal because they think if they can make a couple of quid they will be ahead. So if they can flog the thing for a quick £10k they will. New owner will maybe break for spares and make four times that much but over a long period of time and greater risk.

Personally I will continue to use my car, leave it where I expect to find it and not worry about the risk; that is what insurance is for.

A big shame and I hope it gets found. The wierd thing is that I have big family history from Brightlingsea but have never been there. I was planning a day out there next week and thought to go up in the Jag.

I think I'll take the other car now!

Thankfully this man WILL get caught, that's for sure.
The camera image of him is very clear, and there's no hiding in todays social media mad society. :fingerscrossed:

Call me dense, but ...that looks like hand-held footage, not CCTV. How come someone is filming out of a window, just when a thief with no trailer or recovery van comes knocking and and yet the film person doesn't respond or prevent the theft?

What am I missing?

Peter, I would say it's hand held footage of the security camera monitor during playback. Maybe the owner doesn't know how to retrieve the original file from the security camera hard drive for posting on this forum.

That is correct - he says on his FB page that he just wanted to get the footage posted online quickly, and either didn't have time or lacked the expertise to do it digitally - hence the hand-held video of the monitor.
