Things are not always as straight forward as they seem.
On more than one occasion we have sold very good cars with what would seem like a good margin in them. By the time we've carried out all the work we should, to make them as reliable and safe as we can without completely rebuilding the car then taking out as already mentioned the dredded VAT your left with nothing.
Even when that happens we still have to stand by our warranty and ethics if any other work would become apparent. however not all classic car specialist do, they would tell you it's an old car, what do you expect?
Then of course you have part exchange issues to deal with. In the new and used car market it's normal for a customer to think their car is worth a couple of thousand more than it is, however in the classic car market things are slightly different, quite often tens of thousands.
More often than not we spend a great deal of money and invest hundreds of hours making them good.
As with most things in life, you get what you pay for and E-type's are no different.
