Body blasting

I'm reaching the point where I'm going to need some suggestions or recommendations [or otherwise if you get my drift] as to where to send my body shell to have it taken back to bare metal and primed. Soda Blasting seems to come recommended but any of your recommendations and suggestions/experiences would be much appreciated.

Andy, I've read on the forum about a company called Envirostrip who dip the car then clean out and prime. It'll take it back to bare metal and get rid of all the filler.

Hi Andy

I used these people for my rear axle cage. They stripped and electrophoretically coated it. A really neat job and the coating is an excellent anti-corrosion agent.

I've seen body shells that they've dipped and it really does get rid of everything, to the point of making people think whether it's worth continuing with the job. At least you know what you're working with though.

There is an ongoing debate on many car forums on the merits of dipping and blasting....and although I do not want to harm anyone's business..please check the chemicals that surface processing use....from what I understand they are far more harmful and corrosive than Envirostrip.....

I used Envirostrip...and recommend them....

I've just had a quick look at the Enviro Strip website and they seem to be impressive although I couldn't find what chemicals they use in their processes. As is typical of many businesses, they only tell us what they don't do.

I have seen the debate and, as you say, it is ongoing and will probably never be settled but I spoke as I found from my experience. Granted, it was only an axle cage and that was just because it was too big for my cabinet.
