Hello all,
I am thinking of complementing my 2+2 with an OTS and importing from the US which seems a cost effective way. I will probably go out once I have selected a car or cars to view.
Does anyone have a guide to the best sources, websites etc to help with this.
Much appreciated
Tim

I asked my son in law, who is a car nut living in Chicago, and this is his reply:-
Searchtempest is a good place to start and you can search all Craigslist ads within a certain radius. So you can pick southern California zip codes and search within 400 miles of there to catch all the dry climate cars.
Auctionzip is another good one because that catches all the private auctions that are run within certain zip code radii. That's the best place to find the bargains but you'll be waiting a while and sifting through a lot of crap to find the gems. That's where our friend brian turned up his fiat Dino for $14k a couple of years ago.
I'm sure our transatlantic cousins will have more to suggest.

I've mentioned this before, but it probably bears repeating. Many California E-Types have spent most of their lives on or near the coast. Salt spray and humidity in California is no kinder to sheet metal than it is anywhere else. Also, the state becomes wetter as you move north. I bought a '66 FHC that had spent most of its life in and around Grover City--a beach town. Surprisingly, the sills were very solid, the boot floor an entirely different story. This said, I've seen California cars with a lot of tinworms in all of the usual areas. Bear in mind that at one time you could pick up a running Series One for $1,200.00 U.S., so many of them fell into unsympathetic hands and just got run into the ground. Check over any prospective purchase here very carefully!

Once in a while a nice car shows up on the auction site called "Bring a Trailer". You'd want to have someone look it over before bidding, of course. The Jag Lovers site seems to have members around the U.S. and I'd guess many of them would help you with an informed condition evaluation.

Thanks to all, I'm still looking and expecting that this may take a while.
So far I think I've avoided a couple of scam adverts on Autozin offering fantastic cars at unbelievable prices!

I bought mine from there - no problems. They sell many that need lots of work so just need to ask plenty of questions.

I used Direct Express

All went well but could have been lucky! Worth getting a few quotes I guess.
