Nick refurbished my Series 1 steering wheel in May. When I first contacted him, he told me he couldn't start it for 4 weeks but would turn it around in about 2 weeks and that is exactly what he did. The result was fantastic.

I think he was very busy but he always answered my emails although it was usually after 11pm when they came through, presumably after a long day in the workshop.

No complaints from me and I still have my original steering wheel at a fraction of the cost of a new reproduction one.

Regards

Just a quick update, I now have an replacement wood surround supplied by Nick Reeves, I'll let you know how it goes with some pics when finished, were the originals finished in high gloss varnish?
Cheers, Julian.

Hi,
does anybody know whether Nick Reeves is again restoring steering wheels or the only possibility is to buy the wooden parts from him and do the work yourself?
thanks!

Hi Stu, Looks like he's done a nice job, I now have the surround bonded in place, have now started the sanding process. Marc if you can't find anyone to do this for you let me know.

Julian.

Hi Julian,

I've been trying to get a new set of rims from Nick Reeves for a couple of months now - I had a response to an email I sent back in September, when he was awaiting stock, but have not had anything back from him since then - chased a couple of times. Do you have alternative emails address of phone number for him? I was using nfreeves@btinternet.com?

Thanks
Richard.

Hi Richard, I contacted Nick and purchased through ebay in the end, I did email him however I don't recall a reply. He recently had a steering wheel kit listed.

Hope this helps, Julian.

Hi Julian,
thank you for your kind offer from September 18th and sorry for not reacting immediately, that was not very polite from my side!
Did you finish the refurbishment of your steering wheel to your satisfaction?
I always got replies from Nick Reeves when I asked for information. I am now coming to the point where I would like to send my steering wheel to him and I am waiting for his answer: I just asked him whether he can do the work in the close future.

I contacted Nick via EBay and got a reply this morning. He had one set of rims left in stock (awaiting more timber before making more) so I snapped it up as soon as he listed it. I can now continue with the restoration work on the wheel and column. Nick also mentioned that he was going to be supplying Jaguar with steering wheels for their S1 restorations.

Thanks Julian.

Hi Richard, good news  Nick recommend this glue, you need to be well prepared as it goes off quick, I used small cable ties to hold the two halfs together, good luck.

Thanks Julian, ordered some via Amazon Prime. My upper steering assembly restoration is now ready for the final piece of the jigsaw. Just final polishing of the allow wheel and painting of the indicator housing, and that's ready for installation. And yes, the indicator return finger is (temporarily) on the wrong side!

Does anyone know if Nick Reevesn is still trading? Am needing to replace the wood on my S2 wheel and cannot seem to find out if he is still going. The number no longer works and no reply from his email.
