Somewhere around £350k I heard....I'd pop along to Eagle and see what they have at that price....

Leaving aside the ditching of Jaguar's masterpiece in favour of the propulsion system from a milk float, I've long thought that what the E-type really needs is for someone to get rid of all those messy dials and switches and replace them with an 'infotainment' centre.....

At least with an infotainment centre you can play a recording of an xk engine to drown out the whirring of the motor...

Lots of power, not much range. 40kWh is not much more than the Nissan Leaf, which runs out of puff after little more than 50 miles (in the real world). Tesla give their cars 100kWh battery packs, still not the same as a tank of fuel, (240 miles with my leaden right foot), but getting better. Now if they'd put a much better battery pack in there, or made it a hybrid.......

At least they got rid of the rear silencers, which I heard Mr. Lyons did not like at all.

I love my E-type almost as much as my children. Almost.

Having covered 85,000 miles in an 85 kwh, 2,100kg Model S, I think a 40kwh battery in a 1,250 kg e-type would be just perfect.

The Nissan Leaf is pretty crap by the way. We have one in the family. don't ask me why.

The Model S works far better for daily use in my world than anything of comparable performance. Anything.

I love the Tesla for many reasons that I wont get into here. It outperforms everything, even at twice the price. The E type is the one I would keep though. That and the DS. They both transcend mere cars in feel.

Lets face it, an E type in 2017 is a toy or an investment.

I covered 5,000 miles last year in my E type. Speaking to other owners, I feel I did more than an average mileage. I loved every mile. Much more fun than the Tesla.

It costs £65 to cover 230 miles if nothing breaks in the E type. My Tesla does 230 miles for £4. On the motorway, electricity is free.

I would love to own an electric E-type. I could use it every day. On the other hand I would love £350,000 more.

I would love 2 E-types. Mine and an electric one.

I am sure this electric car is just a marketing exercise, by JLR. However I applaud the notion of the prettiest car in the world on lithium batteries.

I know us reserved English are suspicious of innovation and sometimes don't like a good thing when we see it but-

I love it. It combines many great innovations.

Just wish I could chuck £350k at it.

Nothing wrong with electric power - but if you're going to develop new technology, then develop new technology - i.e. the whole package à la Tesla. For Gawd's sake don't go around ripping the heart and soul out of something like an E-type

I oppose this in much the same way I oppose the notion of stripping the outmoded Merlin out of a Spitfire and fitting a modern lightweight gas turbine instead.....

It's on display near to Kings Cross station so will go to look at it tonight on my way into town. It's consderably more expensive than the normal things on display round the back of Kings Cross but at least they both use battery power

I guess the obvious quesion is how many donor cars would they get to do it. I love the exhaust sound of my car and would I pay £390k to turn it into a milk float? I suspect they might find a couple of too rich people to buy one. Will they give the spare bits they removed in box in case someone changes their mind?

Great idea by Jaguar though as it is featured in press world wide which keeps the car on the public consciousness.

Ive now popped some duracells into my ashtray and bumped up the insurance value to 450k :)

My car is the same colour, sounds much better and only takes 5 minutes to recharge the tank

Am I missing something here? Just got back from Goodwood, where the overriding memories are of the blood and thunder of the classics, the noise was deafening, the fumes, overpowering...... It was heaven, I don't buy into global warming and electric cars at all.... Load of old rubbish?, Petrol,and Castrol R.... Is all a man needs.

why don't you just get a pair of pliers and remove the electrics from a Tesla and put them into an etype shell. You can then keep the bulk of the £350k in your bank account.

I had a similar idea but using something a little more cost effective, and available. Used Nissan Leafs.

I had thought about electrifying a Defender before using scrapped bits.

I suspect it is not as easy as it sounds though.

I heard on the radio the other day that Jaguar LandRover are to produce only electric or hybrid cars by 2020 .

Good news is the new E Type Sparky could have anti theft soon
