Any ideas what this valve is for?! Spotted on the rear bumper overrider on Healey 3000. The black pipe connected to it runs inside the overrider and can be seen disappearing into the boot space.

Initial thoughts are some form of suspension inflation to allow for a comfier ride. Reasoned it can't be for draining brakes or fuel as its location doesn't make the most of gravity!

Rather unsightly I think as destroys the lines of the bumper but surely must be practical...

To me this is a radio antenna.
It hurts less to drill in a bumper than in a wing!

Back in the day, before cell phones, my Dad had a CB radio for emergencies. The antenna base was mounted on the rear AMCO bar and looked very much like that.

I agree. Definitely a radio antenna.

Having bled the clutch on a few big Healeys it's given me an idea for a remote bleeder.
