As most of you will be aware a new MOT exemption will come into force on the 20th May 2018. Any vehicle over 40 years old will no longer be required to undertake an MOT test as long as it has not been substantially modified in the past 30yrs. My question is - does conversion from LHD to RHD or RHD to LHD class as a substantial modification?.

Based on their points assessment...you are probably fine....although I am far from convinced it is a good idea...I will get mine MOT'ed anyway...peace of mind...

Hi..whats your name....can you please try to put it in as a signature with your car model.......in the docunent that you linked it does give "The criteria for substantial change" to be honest on a forum you will only get individuals views on legal/dvla regulations.....to get a confident accurate answer then direct to dvla/ gov .....Steve

Hi
I had mine converted and thought to notify DVLA by amending the V5 but discovered there is no mention of where the steering wheel is located. So I didn't bother.
I will however get it tested every year anyway.
