I have been given an opportunity to purchase a 1972 2+2 Coupe V12 auto. It’s a left hand drive and has done 43k miles. The seller describes it as being in very good condition, I would probably say it’s in good condition, no obvious problems, looks good. My question is what should I be paying for this car, I realise this is an impossible one to answer accurately but any help on approximate values would help me make a decision.

If is has no major issues for a 46 year old car, is mechanically sound, cosmetically unchallenged and has a nice usable interior, no dodgy welding and NO RUST, about £40-£45k I would think.
It will probably have some minor issues but that is what old cars are all about.
If is has rust-walk away and buy another one. Even a small amount of corrosion in the structure is a £big hassle.
My friend purchased this RHD one last Saturday at ACA for that kind of money.
I must say, the Auto S3 fhc is a lovely car. Very usable. Very good value as well.

Chris, if you've no experience of E types you might wish to take an experienced owner with you to help show where to check.
We have a very knowledgeable group of people on here and some, like Angus Moss, who may be able to view the car with you. Seek out Moss jaguar and chat to him

LHD, auto, V12, 2+2 makes it probably the least desirable E Type spec.
While I don't follow car values assiduously, that seems a very high price to me.

Hi Chris
$36000 equates to around £25500 at today's exchange rate. By the time you've repatriated it it will probably stand around £30k. Then you've got import duty and VAT which takes it to around £38k. Then add a couple of thousand to make it road legal and you're nudging £40k. If it's a great car then it's about right and that's only if the car really exists.
Buying cars is a minefield. Buying cars in a foreign country just exacerbates this. If it's a bargain then fine but maybe this isn't enough of a bargain.
Regards
