Does anyone have any information or photos of the OTS that Harry and Meg drove off in today?

But it is not David's car

One article I read said it was a 1968, which it doesn't look like to me. Another article called it an E-Type Zero which may be something retrofitted by the factory, maybe with an electric motor???

Ok, just watched the Jaguar official video. What an abomination!

An E-type that sounds like a golf cart, but if you really give it some stick it might sound as good as a washing machine. I fear for the future.

I think it was a great thing to have at the wedding. Shows British engineering at its best, a nod to the past and the future. Well done Jaguar!

Excellent PR by JLR and an E type at that. Most watching wouldn't know it was electric - it does make the brand and E types a talking point and hopefully as an owner make resale prices stronger when the time comes to say goodbye.

Well done Harry for accepting Jaguar's offer over the many others that I'm sure were available!

Well done Jaguar (and Harry). A brilliant engineering exercise. The looks of the most beautiful care ever built, wiht a powerful motor, that does not make a sound, and performance wise, will blow away the original 4.2. A dream car for a dream day !! Of course, its just a fantasy, as Jaguar , unless 500K deposits show up at the factory, will not be building many more. Congrats to the happy couple, and congrats to Harry for a nod to the past, and future, of English technology.............and TATA money !!

JLR Classic have commented that they are looking how to bring the change of the original motor to the electric version to market. This is a fully reversible mod according to JLR Classic.

Good on JLR for looking how to future proof classics (should one want to), and looking at the future while maintaining the connection to the past, rich heritage.

The car concerned has a battery capacity of 40KwH. Apparently this give it a 'real world' range of 170 miles.

A friend's Nissan Leaf has a similar capacity and it runs out of puff at around 50-60 miles, sending warnings to the driver not to deplete the batteries anymore as they will become damaged!

Another friend used a chaufeur driven Tesla to take him and his new wife on the first leg of their honeymoon - a trip to the airport, which was a journey of 72 miles. At the airport the Tesla driver had to go and find a fast charging point as he wouldn't have got home without a top up. That particular Tesla had a 100KwH battery pack.

The standard Nissan Leaf has a 24Kw/hr battery, 110Kw motor and weighs ~3,500lbs depending on spec. The E-Type Zero has a 40 Kw/hr battery, 220Kw motor and weighs 2,557lbs, actually 101 pounds less than the original E-Type. So the range of 170 miles is probably about right given the technology was pulled out of the soon to be released I-Pace so is cutting edge.

Difficult to understand how the chauffeur ran the Tesla battery low given it plots a route at the start of a journey and accurately calculates where it needs to stop for fuel to complete the trip. Sounds like it was not fully charged at the start or the navigation was disabled. There are Tesla owners on the Forum who might have a different viewpoint.

Imagine how good that car would be if they dropped an in-line six-cylinder in the nose....

Oh, and one final thing. The E-Zero has no spare wheel. Elastic trickery gubbins take up all the space under the boot boards where once a spare and the fuel tank were.

Haven’t any direct experience of the lecky car stuff, just relaying what others have experienced. I tend to treat the claims of enthusiastic owners with a degree of scepticism. Eg a S3 E-Type owner who has fitted a 6 litre fuel injected V12, claims he gets over 30mpg on a run.

Now if my frequently stated plea to make the battery packs removeable cassettes which could be quickly changed at a charging station were to be mandated, and let’s face it without mandatory influence the manufacturers will never do this, then the range of a lecky car would never be an issue. We’d all buy one and add our favourite synthetic engine noise to fill the sonorific void.

And judging by the grins on the faces of the young men organising car parking at an event we attended in our six cylinder powered E Type over the weekend, then they certainly like the sound when given a firm press on the loud pedal
