This reminded me of an article on the car in Jaguar World Monthly, Dec. 2007. One of the last 3.8's (no silver dash), DC owned it till 1970, then sold it as you state to band singer Mike Smith when the band broke up. The car was sold through E&M in 1978; the new owner fitted a new bonnet, sills 'and other parts'. Once sorted, it did the 2004 JEC tour of the Deep South in the US. In original ownership it appeared on 3 album covers. video and various calendars etc. Apologies for this outbreak of geekism; I was a Beatles fan anyway. 8)
Having now seen the video (after posting the above) I suspect it may need another new bonnet after that healthy young lady has sprawled all over it

The Dave Clark Five used a different E-Type for their film 'Catch Us If You Can':
Wonder if this one survives?

Jamie,are you sure--churchill died in the mid sixties aged ninety odd--where has your info come from?

Well from the owner! It's a FHC S1, I can find out more info if you want. I pass his house regularly(the owner that is!)

I suspect this may be WSC's grandson, also called WC - a politician of some note in his own right, and a more likely generation. The Great Man certainly did not own an E type and I suspect he never stooped so low as to drive a horseless carriage himself

Actually, as my other love is Land Rovers, I know that Churchill certainly owned a SWB series 1 Land Rover with the rather distinctive registration number T2

Update on the DC5 E-Type's - seems there were three others used for promotional purposes:
291 HYH - first registered to C. S. Hodder, whereabouts unknown
LLR 980D - first registered to Mr Porter of Edgeware, later by Clive Poster and now thought to be somewhere in Cheshire
260 EYW - Used in the 1965 film 'Catch Us if You Can' and blown up (seems to happen to all E-Type's used in movies). Despite much research there is no trace of 260 EYW after 1965 so either it was a false reg. no or it was indeed actually blown up in the film!

Not only is the E type one of the most charismatic and in many peoples opinion the most beautiful car ever made it was also the status symbol of the stars during the 60s and early 70s.
Can we compile a list of those still on the road, better still what a wonderful display it would make if an event could be held with all the cars on display.
Possibly even a charity event. that could include the many other stars cars.
Anyone with any thoughts ?
I have the last E-type owned by George Best GGF379J to start the ball rolling --can you put more on the list please

Thank you for those. Some nice pics. but I was hoping that some contact could be made with the actual owners of the cars. Just thought it would be nice to see a large selection all in one place.
