#1 Bonnet Identification

Post by neil4444 » Fri Jan 18, 2019 6:59 pm

Hi all,

The S1 project car I bought a couple of years ago had the wrong bonnet on it and I have now sourced a new one but need to identify the old one so I can advertise correctly. I'm not sure if it's an S2 or S3 bonnet. It has S2 bumpers, etc but the wings are flared as per S3. Please can anyone advise ?

Many thanks,

Neil

The underpan doesn't have the S3 scoop so it could be an S2 bonnet with S3 wings fitted or an S3 bonnet with S2 underpan fitted.

Hello Neil,
The flares on the front wings look a little more pronounced than actual S3's, but it may be just the picture. In any regard, the bonnet is neither one, nor the other, but is more S2 than S3. As already mentioned, it appears that the Lower Valance is S2 and I suspect that the air ducts inside the bonnet are S2.

Given that the air ducts are S2 and I would be gob smacked if they weren't, if I were selling this bonnet, I would have the wing wheel arches modified back to S2 and market the bonnet as S2. The modification I suggest is not a complex job.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks Bill, I suspect you may be right. I'll check the air ducts.
