#1 USA e type

Post by Jaguar63 » Mon Apr 01, 2019 5:25 pm

Hi Frank here. I've frequently search both the UK and Jaguar lovers website for information and guidance. Without question they have been very helpful. I've added to the want add section my 1963 e type coupe for sale ($110,000 - 83,000 pounds) and l have gotten no inquires. It has a heritage certificate, matching numbers (except synchro trans) bare metal respray in BRG photos and video on Hemmings. Any suggestions as to how I should proceed in bring my Jaguar to the UK market

With upcoming Brexit I believe the UK market is cooling down, let alone an LHD car...

Maybe you have to adjust the asking price.

Hi Frank....you can't advertise as matching numbers if it isn't. ...unless you have the original gearbox as well...Not the best time to sell in the UK...and our market don't really want LHd cars.....unless they are restoration projects...your car could be desirable in Europe but then a buyer would have to factor in the costs of shipping and comming to you to view......you could look into finding a selling agent in Europe and at your cost shipping it over for them to sell...it's another option but is it worth doing...personaly I would just review price and sell in US/Canada... With the EU requiring speed limiters to set 112 max mph by 2022, Jaguars should see a premium for driving enjoyment

Hi Frank, hopefully the pound will bounce back if Brexit ever gets sorted, plus a recent article by Hagerty saying that certain classic cars including E types are going down in price might be having an effect?
I think Bring a Trailer is the best place to get an idea of what cars are actually selling for in the USA,last 63 Coupe on there sold for $90,000 I think.Good place to sell maybe, although all the armchair quarterbacks asking all sorts of questions, most, it would seem are trying to show off their knowledge,or talking the car down in order to slow the bidding, yes I am cynic!

I would suggest this website for UK focused adverts, its free.
https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/list/22/e-type/
Having recently imported i can say any UK buyer will need to spend circa $4k to ship, insure and pay duties, plus if they want to have it convert to RHD professionally another $7k,
Good luck
