Hi All....Just to inform you that we have banned a member (JJC) from the forum......This is the first time i can remember anyone being banned...Its not something we take lightly......Unfortunatly JJC had a very disruptive and abusive attitude not conducive with the type of forum we all enjoy........he had been warned befor and also previously banned from the US Jag Lovers forum......Steve

I’d already “banned” him from my posts. The forum software allows one to selectively ignore an individual’s posts.
Shame he had to go. Now we’ll never know how to remove the gearbox from a SWB E-Type without removing the engine as well. He takes that unique ability with him.

Some people (fortunately only a very few) just don't get it. My experience as a mod on JL is that the vast majority don't take issue with dropping them a PM and asking that they tone it down, or redact an individual post.

Never nice to read but I have to agree that his tone and attitude stood out from the norm.
I was only chatting with Angus last week as to how unique this forum is in its balance of knowledge, challenge and a bit of fun too.
As always, thanks to the moderators for your time and commitment. It is truly appreciated.
cheers
Ash

It’s such a shame to read about the ban.
I was going to offer him my quick release engine mounts - just pull back on the levers and the engine drops to the floor, making it virtually impossible for the tea leaf to get away with the car.
Please don’t ban me.

“Shame he had to go. Now we’ll never know how to remove the gearbox from a SWB E“
“I was going to offer him my quick release engine mounts - just pull back on the levers and the engine drops to the floor, ”
That’s how he did it!

Fan - bloody - tastic.
Saved me lighting the blue-touch-paper of my own solution to his problem eh David ?!
The most gratuitously unpleasant line I have ever read on the Forum was penned by the same, when, during a perfectly harmless bit of whimsiness, one of us mused about car colours .........
For those that were lucky enough to miss it, here it is again.
I quote :
I am curious ......Its your car, an extension of your taste, your money, your hard work....why do you care what other people think ??? How does that help ? To be truthful, do you believe another forum member, a perfect stranger to you, would actually want to spend time pondering what color you paint your car ?? I have always felt that the color of one's car, like a favorite tie, or a favorite hat, is something very personal....an extension of one's taste......and you have no idea !! I assume tire choice will pose a problem as well.
Let's re-read that line - "
do you believe another forum member, a perfect stranger to you, would actually want to spend time pondering what color you paint your car ?"
Breathtakingly and sneeringly nasty.
This latest bit of news has made my day, made the Forum a nicer place to be,
so much so that to celebrate
I shall go and put the crank in the block.

Frankly, I guess we do need such situations from time to time to put the ball back in the centre.
Thanks mods.

Hmmmmm! I wonder how long it will be before our friend tries to return - new email address, new ID, different location............

As long as he returns with a renewed sense of proportion, thoughtful and considerate of others then no problem. Equally if he wants to email any of the Moderators with a promise to modify his behaviour then he may be able to return using his old credentials.

I blocked him months ago but this last episode was like a car crash - a predictable outcome but difficult to look away from.
Let's hope he learns from it, even if history suggests the contrary.

This is so unfair: I've been trying for years to get banned!

Please don't let him back, whatever name he gives himself, the puffery was just too much.
a) because he won't change - banned now 3 times in all from JL and here ?
and
b) because the drivel he peddled, even expressed more politely, was drivel.
My own exchanges of PM with various regular contributors, and some who (precisely) don't contribute any more, suggest forum-fatigue due to people who feel the urge to reply to every single post, even if they have nothing useful to add.
