I'm probably twice his size and couldn't chuck heads around like that, even allowing for the speeded-up film. Notice how they were far less chubby on average than today? I can imagine the job interview:

"So, Mr Whippet, you've come for a job on the engine line? What are your qualifications?"

"This."

"OK Mr Whippet, you've got the job. Can you help me down off this cabinet now, please?"

My Dad was a motor mechanic from 1936- 1980 except for his war service spent repairing Lancasters. He was
5' 8" and about 10 1/2 stones. Around 1969 he helped me get the engine out of my Morris Minor. After undoing all connections no hoist needed, he leaned into the engine bay and lifted the engine out! I guess years of heavy work and lifting built up his considerable strength.

I’ve pulled engines from a Ford Escort and from a Triumph Dolomite Sprint without a hoist, using no more than leg muscles and strategically placed boxes to walk the engine out of the car. Dad told me three men were required to do this for the engine on a Bedford Truck during his WW2 service years, two to walk up and back down the boxes, engine slung on chains from a bar, one to push the truck back an forth. My engines were lighter than the Bedford Truck engines.

At 63 years old, I won’t be trying this without a hoist.
