#1 restoration advance

Post by charlycupa » Fri Jul 26, 2019 8:02 pm

Hello everyone! im here to update you all about my restoration advance.

So, last year my mechanic and I rebuild the engine, brakes, clutch and electrical system. Now i wanted to paint the engine bonet because it has been previusly painted and with a very bad finish, but one thing lend to another and here i am, without the car because im doing a hole pain job. I took the bonet for a sand paint removal for a fresh start and now im gonna replace the cockpit floor, some little rust on the doors and a few little bumps on the doors. I'm gonna paint it in the original carmin red but with varnish is it? for a glassy finishing.

the problem began when i picture the car with fresh new paintjob and crapy chromes, so all the bumpers and chrome finish things are being rechromed.

I have one question do, respect the interior, mine was carmin red with black leather interior, the carpets were replaced years ago for some light grey, but i dont really know if the carpets were suposed to be black or grey, maybe you can help me out.

i will upload more photos while the process advace.

charlie

Hi Charlie,

My car is Carmen red with black interior.

Your carpets should be black not grey.

By the way, most of the interior is vinyl not leather; only the seats and the top and front of the console are leather.

Update:
You haven't said what year your car is. Assuming it is not an early 3.8, my information about the console is correct; the early ones would have an aluminium top and front for the radio panel. In both cases the sides of the console and the door panels would be covered in vinyl.

Hey Paul! thanks for the info, in deed my seats and central console with the "radiomovile" radio are real leather, i think the door panel and the part above the door might be leather, aldo could be vinyl with leather look. The console is true vinyl. ok then, I will re do the carpets in real black colour as I thought was original :P

Thank you!!!!
Charlie
