#1 Monogram 1/8 th 4.2

Post by dal2.0litrefrogeye » Sat Mar 28, 2020 2:32 pm

Hi all as I'm confined to barracks ,
I'm about to modify this 1/8th monogram
Model , now before l go chopping it up anyone know if it's super rare ,
Its a 4.2 as opposed to the more common revel 3.8 , it has the 4.2 seats and the script on the tailgait is separate pieces
Oh and it's wired for lights the body actually goes together slightly different which is actually easier for me to add the extended rear quarters , that I've chopped from an old revell _model I had I the loft . See photos ,
Cheers for any ideas, Darren

Oh and the tail gate is a separate opening item unlike the revel . I picked it built and complete at a toy fair for £25.00

Darren,
Yes, extremely rare. It looks like a motorised IMAI or Bandai 1/8th scale XKE. The Bandai models sell over 1,000 US dollars and the even rarer preceding IMAI considerably more. I suggest you do a bit of research before cutting the body. Check out your decals on your bonnet compared to the photos below.

There are several posts on these 1/8th scale models on here, but the IMAI is the rarest. Do you have the hidden electric motor inside the model’s engine block and the drive train through the gearbox to the rear axle ? I have quite a bit of information on these models if you want to know more.

This second historical post shows what can be achieved with Monogram and Revell 1/8th scale models, but I strongly suggest you do not modify this new model that you have just bought without due consideration of it’s rarity and what people worldwide potentially will pay for these models - especially an IMAI.
