New 3.8 engine block from Jaguar

I see it has been mentioned in the new and reproduction parts list by another member - but it didn't seem to attract any attention. Jaguar have re-issued the 3.8 engine block for E type, mk2, XK150, mk9, S type. They are now in stock according to Jaguar and priced at £14K + including VAT.
I find this quite significant as 3.8 blocks can still be had for £2k ish or less.
It doesn't say if you can buy one if you are missing your car's original engine , buy one of these and have it stamped to suit your number or not ??

Not supprised it didn't attract much attention at £14k.....i assume your talking just the bare block?......There is no way you could have an original engine number stamped into it...and i could see a potential registration problem.....if you replace an engine then you are supposed to inform DVLA......its possible to retain your registration number if the engine is of similar age(letter fron Jag heritage required).....however you new block would be New......not something the DVLA would be happy with i think.......Steve

Incredibly they are offering the option of stamping your original engine number albeit with an asterisk to denote a replacement block. Nothing a dremel couldn't remove.
They don't seem to need proof that the original block exists just proof of ownership. I wonder what the casting date will show?

Hi Simon...if thats from their website then someone must have just done a "how to scam a punter course" at Trotters independent trading .......however it would still be your responsibility to inform the DVLA of the engine change...with..* I still dont think they would like a 2020 dated engine.....theoreticaly it would need to meet current emission requirements.....Steve
