Off on a trip soon in my '66 S1 2+2.Start from San Sebastian down through Pyrenees,Midi Pyrenees and Languedoc and of course taking in the Millau.
Can't wait and any suggestions welcome-also contacts 'just in case'.I've got AA 5-star and the SNG Barrat's book but it's pretty well sorted so should be no worries.Clutch master went last week so that and slave now replaced-now theres' lucky!

Sounds a great trip! We did something similar last year http://etypeuk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1020 without any technical hitches.
Recommend you open a Nationwide account and use their debit/credit card as they don't charge any foreign transaction fee - an immediate saving of 2.75% on your holiday. Also try to use the Carte booths on the Autoroutes as there is usually less queuing and it speeds your journey. Every Hotel in France has free WiFi access so make sure you take a small Laptop so you can book/change Hotels on the fly, run Autoroute journey plans and suss out Hotels with Trip Advisor.com. If you have car problems you can post here and Forum members can act as your back up team!
As to recommendations try to stay a couple of nights at the L'Abbay Chateau de Camon - one of the best Hotels we have ever stayed at and run by an English couple. You may be tempted to visit Carcassone - don't. Sounds great but it is a cynical marketing opportunity
But do try to get to Laguiole (knife capital of the World) because the "getting there" is huge fun over some of the best empty roads we have ever found. If you need any Hotel recommendations in or around the route we took please let me know.
Finally please start a 'Running Report' thread in that bit of the Forum with your intended route, and if possible, some pictures.

Wife just reminded me - make sure you have full European RAC cover including repatriation of vehicle.

I live in north of France and even if I was sometimes in the part you will discover, I can't suggest you some good adress there.
I may propose you my mobile phone by Pm, just in case you would need a french-english translation.

Hello Simon,
You won't need it, obviously, but don't forget to take some imperial wrenchs just in case you would have to stop on the road,or in a french garage (they don't have imperial size)
