#1 Number Stamp

Post by mxke » Wed Jun 24, 2020 3:13 pm

I am replacing the picture frame on the car and I wish to stamp the VIN number into the new frame.
Would anyone have a source for the 1/4” stamps in a reasonably close font?
Thanks.

Hi Mike
Have you tried asking the company that makes the frame?
Robeys will stamp it for for example
They just need a copy of your heritage cert

Hi Robbiee
I bought the front end frame bits 15 years or so ago. I think I’m on my own now!
Thanks,
Mike

There are any number of people selling number stamps in the 5/6/8 mms high range on ebay....font may not be perfect....but for £20 get a 0-9 set and try on an offcut of aluminium

I’ve looked at all those on FleaBay. As it is not going to be a concours car, I shouldn’t be too picky!

If you still have your old picture frame you also have the alternative of carefully cutting out the old stamping and welding it into the new frame. Also carefully!

I have the old frame, battered and beat... when the car gets sold when I am old, the new owners would get the old frame for confirmation of VIN if there ever where any questions raised.
