#1 body plate - where do I buy it?

Post by ggg1102 » Sun Nov 01, 2020 9:59 am

Hello everyone,
the blasting of the car damaged the body plate under the license plate on the back.
I've to change it.
Do you know where to buy it?
I haven't been able to find it yet.
Thanks
Giovanni

Hi
The tags from Todd are great But have you considered removing your original one, cleaning it up and reriveting it on the car? I can make out your number ... so I would reuse the genuine original one!

Hi Robbie. Re-use the original one was my first choice but unfortunetely it was damaged by sand used to blasting the car to remove painting.

Hi Giovanni
Well, try Todd Clarke ...check the topic suggested above.

I’d still try and get the original off and work on it with wire wool and see. It’s made of aluminium and once painted it might be fine(even if not perfect). The replacements tend to be steel!

FYI, I just obtained a replacement plate from Todd, and it is very well done. He's very pleasant to deal with, and service was extremely quick. I recommend his work.

I'm in contact with Todd about making a tag for my car, however we weren't aware there are 2 sizes of these tags, so he is tooling up to make the S2 & 3 ones, which are larger and bigger digit size.

Can anyone confirm that all Series 1 have tags approx 62mm (2.45") long, with holes 54mm (2.125") apart
and Series 2 & 3 are approx 70mm (2.75") long with holes 60mm (2.375") apart.
Anyone know about Series 1.5 or when they changed size?
Thanks, Geoff

Hi, my old plate (serie 1, 2+2, march 1966) is about 64mm and has holes at 54mm. About other types I don't know.

Thanks Robbie & Giovanni. Todd had already sent me a S1 tag, which was too small. Just need to find out when they changed to the larger one.

Geoff

I, too, could do with a couple of S2 body tags. If you’re successful with Todd will you let me know, please.
Then I can ask him for ones for my cars.

Cheers from another Geoff
