Off on holiday so I am leaving the Forum in the tender care of MarkE and Harry - please try not to break it this time :D

No E-Type involved unfortunately but I am going to try and make up for that lapse in my environmental credentials with a flight in this:

Have a good break David & don't you worry about me and Mark.

The Forum should still be in one piece when you return.

David,

Be careful, I think the tail has fallen off that one.

That Lancaster often flies right over top of my house to and from local airshows. Last year it did a few circuits of the British Car Day show that we have here every September. Biggest Brit car show in North America.

If you want to see some more interesting old airplanes, check out my friends the Tiger Boys at Guelph Air Park, not far from Hamilton.

Have a great flight, Biggles, and don't sit too close to the bomb bay doors!

Well that was a phenomenal experience - four Merlin's at full chat and a 'Dambuster' run at 600ft down Long Point with a sharp turn over the Lighthouse. How those boys did it at 60ft, in the dark whilst being shot at is not possible to imagine. A worthwhile pilgrimage and an unforgettable experience which brings a lump to the throat and a tear to the eye when you remember those who lost their lives. We used 200 gallons of fuel in the one hour we were airborne so along with the jet fuel to get there and the 2,000 miles of aimless cruising in "Moby" (our Chrysler Sebring convertible hire car which was scared of corners) I feel I have done enough this month to earn my carbon credits - I am right in thinking you get more credits for the more carbon you create?
Four crew, four passengers and no Health & Safety so we could wander around the plane at will in flight.
