#1 ceramic coatings

Post by malcolm » Fri Apr 02, 2021 12:45 pm

Just seen a pic of a car treated with ceramic coating. Looked amazing, really tough finish too. Not referring to film coating. Anyone here had this done?

Hi Malcolm.......a friend had it done at CMC......yes its nice and shiney, and lasts a long time.....however there are very different products available as " ceramic" coating....the CMC one i not a diy product....they have the car for a few days and its very expensive.....hundereds of pounds i think......Steve

Thanks Steve - wouldn't object to a few hundreds! Thought it might be much more.

I’ve had 3 cars ceramic coated and the finish is amazing. One was a 2 day job, including the overnight cure time, another was cheaper and did show but still a deep shine all the same. My latest was more than both combined and is a fantastic finish but was done over a number of days, including clay treatment and de ionising before final application. The interior as well as under bonnet and wheels etc were also treated at the same time. It does need upkeep depending on quality and can last up to a couple of years, supposedly. Friends of mine have a top up every few months costing around £40 a time. There’s plenty of ceramic kits out there for the enthusiast. I’ll be applying a ceramic polish to my E in next few months to compare.
