#1 Period look radio for 68 2+2

Post by rumby007 » Sat Apr 10, 2021 1:47 pm

Hi

I've recently bought a 1968 2+2 and am having it refreshed by Harvey and the wonderful team at Pitt Lane in Winchester.

I'm keen to have a retro look radio in it which will do all the modern stuff (DAB Blue Tooth etc) but look like a 60s one.

Please can I have recommendations for where to buy one in the UK?

Many thanks

Mark

I bought a new radio for my 67 2+2, fitted rear speakers, used the original fronts.

I never turn it on.

The sound is awful, the original speakers resonate in their mounts, the rear speakers sound like they are from a 1960s trannie radio.

And besides, I want to hear the car when I drive. I want to listen to the engine, gearbox and axle, the sound of the road, the body transmitting sounds from the wheels, suspension and steering.

I don’t want to listen to a radio or a CD when I’m on the road in my E.

I have a correct period radio in my etype, never turn it on.
I would buy a non working original one in decent condition, and just fit that.

Harvey has been looking after my car (a '69 2+2) for about 5 years now. Where are you based?

By the way, my car has it's original radio which means it only gets MW and LW, so the shipping forecast, a few normal stations and continental stuff. It also sounds dreadful, but I tend not to play music anyway.

I only fit in a 2+2, so got one!

I have fitted a CCS Vintage 100 DAB spindle mount radio to my series 2.
Looks original with 5 push buttons and two knobs. Reception is excellent and it has an input for additional input.
Type CR018 from Classic Car Stereo.
