Hello gents,
Yesterday I drove, along with 3 other local
E-Types from Canberra, to the Mount Panorama motor racing circuit in Bathurst, a distance of 230 kms. We were taking part in a photo shoot organised by our sister club, the Jaguar Drivers Club of Australia, to celebrate the 60th anniversary. It was hoped to get 60 E-Types but alas we had 2 no shows and a break-down so had a total of 57. Ironically I parked next to my late dads E-Type, a 1970 Series 2 2+2. I recognised the car immediately with its Minilite alloys, Webasto roof and leather-bound Motolita steering wheel. I have met the current owner previously albeit about 15 years ago. Dad bought the car in 1971 when I was 9 years old. He owned it for 12 years. Even more ironically, three weeks ago I bought his old MGB which he bought new in 1963 when I was just 1 and owned for 15 years. The previous owner contacted me about 7 years ago through an MG forum when I owned an another MGB. He told me he owned my dads old car and I insisted should he ever decide to sell it to contact me. He did just that a month ago and I went and bought it back. It’s the 160th MGB built in Australia so a good stable mate to my 175th E-Type (LHD FHC)

Looks like a fun day, and a decent drive too. Great place to be.

Really nice to see a load of E-types together - its been way too long over here in the UK since we have seen that sight.
Not long to go though till the first events so fingers crossed!

Hi Julian,
We were supposed to be travelling from Australia to the UK to attend E-Type 60 at Shelsley Walsh but for obvious reasons we won’t make it. Very disappointing. I’m sure it’ll be a splendid event even without me there!

Cheers
Pete
