#1 New Parts

Post by E600 » Sat May 15, 2021 5:37 am

After a 4 year build I am now at the point of shakedown on my Low Drag build, the car covered some 12 miles and the following new parts failed:

Oil pressure sender
Speedo right angle drive
Coil

I have also noticed the reservoir hoses “sweating” despite assurances that this type of hose was definitely the right composition.

On contacting the supplier, a well known major supplier, the response is I am sorry we can not refund nor replace as the items have been purchased more than 12 months ago. The speedo drive and oil pressure sender were purchased about 18 months ago

I explained the cars build history saying nobody buys everything in the last 12 months of a restoration and 3 of the 4 items have had less than 12 miles use.

E600, That sounds very unfair. I have to say, I have parts that I have not used on my car yet. I would be very disappointed if the supplier didn't take them back because of their 12month rule, Was it SC Parts by any chance..?

Have a look at your consumer rights......if a supplier is offering 12 mths that is very generous......My experiance of SC parts is that you will strugle to get a refund at all...even if they supply the wrong part....I now never use them......Steve

I got sent the wrong parts from the JagShop. The guy insisted they were the right parts even though they obviously weren't. Needless to say, I got the right parts from another supplier, and I haven't been back since...
