I saw this and then had to lay down to allow my blood pressure to settle.
Given that GB has been around for 100 years (and has always been acceptable to the EU), I have no idea why this is required. If we can enter the Olympics under GB, I see no logic as to why we now need to use UK to visit Europe

My GB letters are staying on my car. If I need to add UK to appease some peak capped jobsworth, I’ll write it in crayon on the back window.

From an antipodean perspective, it looks more like they're wanting to get rid of the "UK surrounded by European stars" motif.
So leave UK on your cars. Stuff you Brussels.

If you read the press report, then you'll realise:-
1/ It was initiated by the British side,
2/ It's a "world" thing and europe has/had nothing to do with it.
kind regards
Marek

The rules are complicated but for those who have a period chrome GB fixed to their car you have to cover it up and display a UK badge
On the other hand I have driven my E-Type through Europe for years and never even bothered with a GB sticker and I was never stopped or asked.

Total bollocks! Like most of you, I’ll do as I feel is appropriate. Great Britain……..anyway it won’t be the UK fir that much longer if the miserable beggars north of the border get their way. That’s another wind up. That silly little girl up in Scotland…..I’ve coming to the conclusion that owning an E-type, you need to be un PC! Cheers guys!

It's all about showing solidarity with Ulster which is part of the UK but not GB.
When do we think the English will get so fed up with the Celtic moaners that a referendum is demanded to leave the UK?

Oh get some sense of humour Steve. Yes we are a forum, but please don’t lecture me like that. I meant no harm, and don’t take non PC comments too seriously. Get a life!

Back to the GB / UK sticker thing.
I have CH on the back of my Allard, never been challenged.
But there is another side to this, despite trying very hard...I have never had a Euro speeding fine come through for that car.
I seem to get them easily in my Porsche with GB on the back, but never in the Allard with CH. And just to be clear, the Allard is GB registered and carries a silver / black pressed plate on the back, white decals on the bonnet. Basically the same as the E Type.
I'll leave that with you.

I think this has been misunderstood, the good old chrome GB badge is ok - it’s the blue band badge /sticker etc with the 12 stars around it that’s in question

—--so i agree we should remove the stars emblem - you could create a O sticker that covers them but leaves the GB showing .
Otherwise the Rolls Royce with the GB 1 number plate could be banned also

That's not what the BBC article says. That's also not what the .gov.uk webite says. See

You certainly have misunderstood.

Hi
I checked and the government website says “If you have. gab sticker, cover or remove it..”
Does that mean GB chrome lettering is ok??
