Another mild day - no salt on our south-west roads yet - another drive to see Dad. On the way I stopped for fuel. As I was filling up a lady of a certain age walked up and said “Nice car”.
“Thank-you.”
“My God-Father designed its engine.”
“Huh, er wow that’s interesting.”
“Yes, his name was William Heynes.”
I had nothing to follow that. I could have said what a fine engine, this one has probably done somewhere north of 200,000 miles, but I was too taken back by such a random happenstance.
Anyway I had to share the experience.

Wow, what a great story
I’ve got nothing to top that, but I’ve had so many interesting conversations at garages. In fact, I quite enjoy going for petrol as it’s seldom I leave without a chat to someone.
