Hi all

Not my most complex workshop task for the winter months but am keen to freshen up the Ashtray on my S2.

Anyone had particular success with a recommended paint and/or process?

Cheers
Ash

Ash, give up smoking and delete the thing!
I tried a plain, matt none wrinkle (or crinkle) black paint, it looks ok if not correct. Could a powder coating company do anything suitable, even if not wrinkle finish?

Hi.
The crackle finish is available in cans and I have had great success on my ashtray and radio console, amongst other things. It’s such a long time ago I can’t remember what brand I used, but I think I used something from Eastwood. I have used a couple of different versions, in fact I am almost certain I bought one from Halfords, though I doubt they still sell it, that would be years back. Anyway the trick is to follow the instructions, especially with regards to the temperature recommendations.

Good luck.

Don't get rid of it! It's great for putting euros in for the tolls in France and Spain

I have seen a 4.2 ashtray with the stubber taken out and the interior lined with green felt. Ideal place to put a phone !

I removed the ashtray and use the space for the garage remote control
