Sorry that I missed these last exchanges as I would have made more attempt at meeting up with some of you.
Being on the road made for poor email management.
I did see 265bhp Johnathan in Guildford, and SimonP at Goodwood, both OGG, but made the mistake of seeing Angus and his car’s take on OSG, which had me somewhat bewitched ……………
It’ll be one or the other.
May require a family vote.
What a pity the Button-Newey E Type in the RAC TT race lost its gearbox when so convincingly in the lead.

#42 Re: Calling all Opalescent Gunmetal owners
Hi all, sorry about resurrecting an old thread. I recently acquired for restoration a cream S1 Roadster with an oxblood interior, its been idle for 41 years and I'll shortly be breaking it down for the metalwork phase of the restoration. I started the engine last week after the 41 year lay up so its now running, not driving yet but next weekend I think I may have it moving under its own steam. Its a long story but I need to have it driving pre restoration for registration purposes (Ireland) hence the efforts before taking it apart anyway.
Cream looks well on them, the paint on this car is awful but thats not the fault of the colour of course but it has encouraged me to look around and consider maybe changing. Love the Oxblood and the interior is salvageable and would have a lovely patina so I'm going to stay with that, I was thinking about OSG or OGG with a burgundy hood and the oxblood. Anybody have any roadster photos of such a combination or any suggestions or thoughts?
Niall

That paint work colour and finish looks absolutely stunning. Well done.

Amen Simon, I couldn't agree with you more.
I purchased my 68 series 1.5 2+2 in old English White, which in my humble opinion really suited the car. However somehow and don' ask me why I had an epiphany and decided a full nut and bolt restoration was the way forward. So after much sole searching I decided on OGG, and i am so glad I did. The colour (once again in my opinion) looks stunning on the car. I have also gone for a dark blue interior from BAS (not everyone's dream combination I know), which should be done shortlyYou have got to follow your heart, right!
sorry can't show you any pictures of the completed car as it's still in bits, but you can get an idea from these. What a dilemma.
