Apart from the colour and the aluminium dash panel is there anything else offensive?

I was expecting to see a hideous resto mod...so very supprised to see a nice restored car.....ok colour may not be your choice but as we always seem to say colour is down to the owner. .....Steve

Having recently struggled with finding a jaguar colour that I felt was vibrant enough for the e-type, I applaud the guy and expect it to look sensational in the flesh. I eventually settled on an opalescent dark blue for mine but the difference between the Lechler and the PPG colour was marked with the PPG being significantly more vibrant.

Lost me on this one. Apart from the colour, what is not to like? Colour is a personal choice. Sticking my neck out, what is wrong with the horn push.

Sorry, Tony. It's just my twisted humour. It actually has an original horn push but it's one of the usual points of criticism on expensive rebuilds. Annoying, but when you can't get a detail correct reproduction you have to suck it up and stare at a poor replica while driving your pride and joy.

Series 3 hubcap badge supply seems to have dried up too.

Engine increased to 4.7 l and a 5 speed g/box . I wonder what the performance is like - should be a lot better than standard . I`d have one like that if I could afford it

It's a quality restoration with some modifications and a colour scheme that doesn't work for me, personally, but I see nothing wrong with it.

Today I've been running in the new engine in my MK2 which has a 5 speed Toyota gearbox and a 4.2l Mk 10 motor with a ported head and D Type cam. Not original, but very nice to drive.

Very interesting indeed to see the extent to which this car divides or even polarises opinion - apart from the colour the other things which put me off were the engine and gearbox mods , the centre dash panel , and the very strange black sill covers and door tops . Chacun a son gout I suppose

Don't feel guilty, it's all we can get. You'd think the manufacturers would try to get it right, wouldn't you? All that was left of mine was a piece of the rim and when I bought the very expensive new one I had no idea that it was wrong. When you see an original you realise just how poor the replicas are.

I managed to get hold of a S3 hubcap and badge and, one day when I get the time and courage, I will attempt to make a horn push from it. The difference in appearance is striking.

You can get an original spec new horn push from JLR, if you’ve got £690 to spare. Or was that the one you bought that was cr*p?
